Chennakeshava Temple, also referred to as Keshava, Kesava or Vijayanarayana Temple of Belur, is a 12th-century Hindu temple in the Hassan district of Karnataka state, India. It was commissioned by King Vishnuvardhana in 1117 CE, on the banks of the Yagachi River in Beluralso called Velapura, an early Hoysala Empirecapital. The temple was built over three generations and took 103 years to finish. It was repeatedly damaged and plundered during wars, repeatedly rebuiltChennakeshava Temple and repaired over its history. It is 35 km from Hassan city and about 200 km from Bengaluru.

വിഷ്ണുവർദ്ധനയുടെ ഭരണകാലത്ത് പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചതാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. മൂന്നു തലമുറകളിലായി പണിത ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പൂർത്തിയാക്കാൻ ഏകദേശം 103 വർഷങ്ങളെടുത്തു.[1]യുദ്ധത്തിൽ നിരവധി
തവണ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു നാശമുണ്ടാകുകയും കൊള്ളയടിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തെങ്കിലും ആവർത്തിച്ച് പുനർനിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഹസ്സൻ പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 35 കിലോമീറ്ററും ബംഗലുരുവിൽ നിന്ന് 200 കിലോമീറ്ററുമാണ് ഇവിടേയ്ക്കുള്ള ദൂരം.
